Is XenServer Update Possible? 6 years 2 months ago #1525

A few months ago, we installed the latest XenServer (7.1) on 2 of our servers, and configured ha-lizard. It's been working pretty good so far.

Now we are thinking of updating to the latest XenServer (7.3). Would the update require a complete reinstall of both servers at the same time, or is there an upgrade procedure that would be less disruptive to VM uptime?

It is possible with no vm downtime. You would have to slightly adapt the steps in this post: halizard.com/forum/suggestion-box/86-upg...-to-6-5?limitstart=0

There is 1 main difference in the steps that you need to adapt. You can get the details from the latest reference design doc. The difference is that there are 2 lvm.conf files that need to be saved instead of one

Just an FYI - test it first. I did a test upgrade from 7.2 to 7.3 with a HAL install, and it wiped it out...
