How is the VM restarted on the other server when a host failed? The restart is done the same for machines without xentools or it is forced?
Have you ever had any data corruption in your tests or in production use with VMs that where restarted on the other host ?

Assuming you have a 2-host pool with local storage (using ha-lizArd + iscsi-ha):

- VMs are free to run on either host since the storage is visible to both during normal operations. In the event of a host failure, the storage will be up to date on the surviving host and it is safe to start a VM that was running on a failed host. VMs are started by the HA-Lizard HA module

- Xentools is not required to start a VM.

- We have only seen data corruption in one scenario when migrating a VDI while a machine is running AND HA is enabled. In this case it is advised that HA be disabled before moving a disk image of a running machine.
